Assignment Purpose
In this assignment you will develop an approximately 15-page complete project plan which includes the sections from your initial project plan (updated as necessary) plus new sections that you will add as part of this assignment.
Assignment Objectives
Your personal learning objectives for this assignment are to:
- Develop an understanding of how a project plan is used within a project environment.
- Demonstrate a practical understanding of the actual information content needed within a project plan.
- Describe a project using project management terminology, concepts and industry best practices as outlined in the PMBOK.
Assignment Background
Some information regarding this assignment:
- You can assume that all of the information (such as the high-level budget) that would normally be presented in a project charter is available and can be used in this assignment (you can simply make up the information).
- You will not be evaluated on the accuracy of your project plan's raw information (such as task durations or costs). Simply indicate what the information is that you are using, and proceed with your plan.
- For this assignment you are not expected to have any previous expertise or specific knowledge of your project topic. However, the project topic that you select should support demonstrating your understanding of project management.
- Your assignment should be approximately 15 pages in length (not counting the Table of Contents, cover page or bibliography)

Individual or Team Assignment: If you wish, you can team up with one or more other students and work as a group on this and/or any other course assignment. Please let the facilitator know if you have a teaming arrangement in place and make sure that all group members' names appear on your assignment.

PROJECT MANAGEMENT PLAN WRITING GUIDE
For this assignment, you are to select a project topic that interests you, and then either research the information needed to create a project plan, or simply make it up.
The goal is to use the information that you supply in the following template to demonstrate the project management industry best practices, tools, techniques and concepts that appear in thePMBOK Guide to describe the project.
The following sections from your initial project plan should be updated to reflect previous feedback and must be included as part of this plan. (2 marks are allocated in the grading template for updates to your previous work.)
- Title Page

- Project Scope (Assumptions, Constraints, Exclusions, WBS, WBS Dictionary)
The following template for the new sections has been provided to help guide you in your efforts. Your Project Management Planshall contain the following sections:
Project Scheduling Information
Based on your WBS (and project WBS dictionary), create a scheduling data table for your project. You can use the following table as a guide.

- Project Gantt(Bar Chart) Schedule: Create a Gantt chart for your project based on the information supplied in the above table. Your Gantt should include parallel and sequential tasks(PMBOK Guide section 6.5.3.2)
- Critical Path (Network) DiagramPMBOK Guide section 6.5.2.2): Prepare a full network diagram (using the critical path method that includes both the forward and backward pass information) for the project.
You do not need to use any professional scheduling software; if necessary, a digital image of a hand-drawn network diagram will be acceptable.
- RISK MANAGEMENT PLAN(PMBOK Guide Section 11.1.3.1)
Risk represents uncertainty on a project. In this section you should demonstrate practical examples of events that may or may not happen on the project, and how you would deal with them based on the industry best practices outlined in thePMBOK Guide section 11.1.3.1.
- OVERALL RISK PLAN PRIORITIZATION: Risk can affect many different project characteristics (budget, schedule, quality) - indicate which of these characteristics you feel should be prioritized to be protected within your risk plan, and why you feel that (for this particular project) it is best that the risk plan prioritize and protect this characteristic.
Remember: A risk management plan cannot protect the project from all risks; usually, there is not enough money to manage all risks, and risks are inter-related, so it is often the case that protecting against everything is not possible - for example, protecting the schedule might mean sacrificing the budget, just as protecting the budget might mean sacrificing quality, and ensuring quality might mean sacrificing the schedule, etc. As such, you need to prioritize which project characteristic you will protect over other characteristics.
- Contingency Fund and Managerial Reserve Fund(PMBOK section 7.2.2.6): Briefly explain how you would determine the funding requirements of both the project's 1)contingency reserve fund and 2)managerial reserve fund for a project of this nature. It is important that you describe the formulas or approach that should be used in establishing each of these reserve funds.
- Risk Registry(PMBOK Guide section 11.2.3.1): Based on the risks identified in your WBS dictionary, develop a risk registry (also known as a risk log). Identify the following types of information (the table below has been included as asuggestion on how to present your risk information):

- For opportunities (PMBOK Guide 11.5.2.5): Accept, Exploit, Enhance, Share
- Risk Response: Using industry best practices (such as fast tracking, schedule crashing, buffers, insurance policies, contracting mechanisms, contingency funds, management reserve funds, etc.) describe how you would deal with this risk.
- QUALITY MANAGEMENT PLAN(PMBOK Guide Section 8.1.3.1)
Quality Control: Based on the project requirements and quality standards, briefly explain the process (with at least one practical example) of how the project will demonstrate that:
- The material used for each task is appropriate and acceptable;
- The task fulfills the original stakeholder requirements as described in the project charter;
- Each task fulfills the project's requirements as described in the WBS dictionary (this document);
- Each task fulfills the task's quality standards as described in the WBS dictionary (this document); and
- Each task was completed in accordance with the company's procedures and practices.
Quality Assurance: Describe how you would ensure that the project process and procedures are being followed. Briefly outline a practical approach for:
- Ensuring that appropriate processes have been established for your project,
- Ensuring that the project's processes are followed (what audits you will conduct), and
- Briefly describe your process improvement change management plan for enhancing processes that are found to be ineffective.
- COMMUNICATION MANAGEMENT PLAN(PMBOK Guide Section 10.1.3.1)
Based on the communication requirements for some of your project's tasks, develop an example of your project's communication plan that adheres to the communication management plan requirements outlined inPMBOK Guide section 10.1.3.1. Keep in mind that the project communication requirements can include anyformal communication that is required for the success of the project.
You can use the table below as a communication plan template (please ensure that you reviewPMBOK Guide section 10.1.3).

Briefly describe your procurement strategy for bringing additional resources onto the project. Consider how the project will obtain its needed:
- Supplies, material and resources,
- Facility and equipment rentals,
- Subcontractors or subject matter experts.
Outline the procurement process, and the types of contracting methods that will be used.
- PROJECT BUDGET
Develop a project budget - only include sufficient detail to be able to monitor and control project expenditures and overall project progress.
A basic budget table as shown below will be sufficient for the core financial information (additional rows will have to be added for each WBS item). Ensure that you fund each WBS level 3 task.
