1. Assignment 8.3 Elements: Broad/Narrow Definitions Assignment In each of the following problems, identify any ambiguous language in elements in contention. Give broad and narrow definitions of this language, and state which side would argue which definition. *Do not do any legal research*.
   1. Facts: Alice Anderson is nine months pregnant. A police officer gives them a ticket for driving in a carpool lane in violation of 101. The officer said they gave Alice the ticket because they were alone in the car at the time.
      1. Regulation: 101. Carpool lanes can be used only by cars and only when there is at least one passenger with the driver.

1. Facts: Mary is arrested for violating 55 and is charged as a felon. Mary forced open the lock on the driver's side of a van at 5:00 pm. Mary didn't know that the door on the passenger side was unlocked: they went into the back of the van and fell asleep on the floor. The police arrested Mary after waking them up at 9:00 pm. The owner of the van claims that a $20 bill was missing. Mary had a $20 bill, but said it was their own.
   1. Statute: 55. A person who breaks and enters a dwelling at night for the purpose of stealing property therein shall be charged as a felon.
