/Assignment: Assignment #3: Informal Proposal
Points and Weighted Overall Percentage: 40 points worth 12% Overall
Task: Practice writing a business professional informal proposal
**Because this is an involved document with many parts, you have two weeks to work on it. There will be an opportunity to submit a rough draft for quick feedback.
Directions:
- Choose ONE of the following two scenarios from pages 474-475 [273-274]. You may choose from either internal or external proposal scenarios.
- Informal Internal Proposal Options
- Option 1: Case Study Exercises, #1, "Think of a Problem or Challenge in Your Workplace"
- Informal External Proposal Options
- Option 2: Case Study Exercises, #6, "Sports Fundamentals"
B) Use the correct format. The report should include the following:
- Letter format (check out pp. 237-239 [slides] for review if needed)
- Two pages MINIMUM ( - I am okay if you go over that), readable font, 12 pt, single spaced. Fewer than two pages will not be long enough to write everything you should include! Maximum four pages, please.
C) Apply the correct organization. Proposal must include the following sections:
- Introduction
- Background
- Proposal, Method, and Schedule
- Costs and Budget
- Staffing and Qualifications
- Benefits
- Request for Authorization
*Check out the H5P Accordion Organizer in this week's Brightspace folder for more information on the writing plan. Alternatively, the information you need is listed and explained on pp. 434-435 [233-234]. Be sure you follow the INFORMAL writing plan.

Pro Tips:
- Remember to use HEADINGS! You can use the ones listed for the writing plan, but you may have to own subheadings.
- Study the example! Obviously, you cannot use wording from the example, but you certainly should check it out to give you an idea of what to do. Pp. 435-438 [234-237].
- Write outline to help you organize your thoughts before you start writing.
- Keep in mind: You may have to be creative with some of this. For example, you may need to create imaginary "staff." All budgeting information should be based on realistic circumstances.
- Read through the marking checklist carefully so you know what the expectations of the assignment are!
- Optional: Submit your rough draft or outline by Sunday, February 21, using the link provided if you want me to give you some basic feedback about whether or not you're on the right track. The more you have done, the more I'll be able to comment, but feel free to send outlines if you like.
