In this assignment, you will create a substantial rough draft of your original, fictional short story, due in Week 5, and receive feedback on your use of story elements and techniques. You will use your draft throughout the course as you write and revise. Your goal is to have an original submission of 1400-1750 words by Week 5. You will need to adjust your draft throughout the course to meet this final word count. The feedback you receive from your faculty member will guide you in your ongoing revision and narrative development as you continue to work on your story throughout the course.

Composea 700- to 1,050-word draft of your short story. As you begin writing, consider the audience for which you are creating your work. You should create work that is suitable for an audience of your classmates and faculty member.
