Assignment Deliverables:
Students will create and post their Business Case Quantitative Analysis workbook. They will also create and post a word document containing 2+ page single-spaced summary of the key findings summarizing important conclusions from their analysis. The report should contain tables/graphs/charts that clearly communicate their points. Do not include space these tables/graphs/charts require in your page count. Ideally the size is appropriate when the same font size in your text is in your table/graph/chart. You want to refer to these tables and make observations and conclusions and possible reasons and actions you might take related to your strategic issue, but do not just repeat information that we can read from them. The report should also include at least one competitor comparisons.
The goal is to be a quantitative summary, so choose only those items that are most relevant to understanding the trend in performance of the company or the comparison to the competitor. Selection of those is as important as the description. Look for big changes in the income statement and balance sheet categories and try to explain them. You can get help with those explanations sometimes in the 10-K itself under Management Discussion of Financial and Operational results.
You can add any other Financial or Operational information you would like and create any other Ratios. The last sheet on Metrics is totally up to yo to create and many useful ratios can be made between Financial and Operational data.
