You are an information system and technology consulting company asked to put

forward a proposal to design and implement a Customer Service System $($CSS$)$ to

support the following business.

FreshGro $($Fresh Groceries$)$ Inc. is a unique grocery chain with its headquarters

based in Edmonton, Alberta. Although they sell groceries in much the same way as

Safeway, Save$-$on$-$Foods, etc., they do tend to have more partnerships with local

farmers and producers, and that is what primarily draws customers in$.$

They currently have $30$ stores in Canada. Before they build a new location, FreshGro

always ensures they have agreements in place with local farmers and other local

product providers so that they can ensure they are able to deliver on their value

proposition.

Recently, FreshGro has decided they would like to have an information system

developed that would allow customers to simply walk in a store, grab whatever they

need off the shelf and then simply walk out without having to wait in line to pay. They

do recognize that there will be challenges with implementing a system like this

$($processing produce, for example$)$ but are convinced it is the way of the future and

have put out an RFP $($request for proposals$)$ to see if a company such as yours could

provide them with a solution that provides real value for the dollar while significantly

adding value for their customers.

FreshGro$$s research tells them such a system can be profitable as it will reduce costs

associated with hiring employees such as cashiers, as well as reducing equipment

costs for cash registers, etc. This being said, they do want to keep development

costs as reasonable as possible.

Your team will be putting a proposal forward to develop this for them and, in essence,

you are competing for this contract with every other team that also submits a

proposal.
