Assignment: Develop a plan for the key cabinet roles ( State, Treasury, Defense, Economic Development, Education, Justice, Housing and Infrastructure, etc ) to discuss at the meeting (plan details are in last paragraph). Background: Syros is a medium-sized country of 40 million people. It has a temperate climate and 200 miles of oceanfront. It has natural resources including gas, oil, nickel, cobalt, and rare earth metals. The country is reasonably prosperous with a GNP per capita of $15K. It has its own currency, the drachma. Founded in 1950, Syros has a bicameral legislature, an independent court system, and a presidential term of 6 years. Like other countries, Syros was hit by the pandemic, but the government handled the situation well, restrictions were lifted and the economy is recovering. I was just elected President by a 52/48 margin. As President, I have called you together for a secret planning session. I have decided that the country needs strong, smart, decisive leadership and I admire what China has accomplished in recent years. The agenda for the meeting: (1) what are the best steps forward for the country and (2) how do we make me President for life? I expect ideas and plans and from this group I will pick my Cabinet and my inside players. Those not picked will be given two weeks to leave the country safely.
