Assignment Instructions:
- Select a personal or professional project you would like to do in your life. Select a project with enough complexity to create a meaningful project plan
- Utilizing the methodologies in your textbook, develop your project plan/network:
- Create a work breakdown structure (WBS) or a process breakdown structure (PBS) - See Chapter 4, objective 4.3 / 4.5
- WBS is best suited for design and build projects that have tangible outcomes (e.g. a new car prototype)
- PBS is best suited for process projects (e.g. creating a website)
- Use the WBS to estimate project times and cost using a methodology from the text (Chapter 5). See graphic below.
- Develop your project network using one of the methodologies from the textbook and include the appropriate elements (slack, critical path, early/late, etc.) considering the nature of your project (Chapter 6)
- Produce a Gantt chart for your project (Chapter 6, objective 6.8). See graphic below. There is a template linked, or you can find/create your own template.
- Write a brief narrative covering your project plan from beginning to end. Include the chapter elements you considered and used. APA format is NOT required, but DO USE in-text citations and a reference page if citing the textbook or another source
- Create a work breakdown structure (WBS) or a process breakdown structure (PBS) - See Chapter 4, objective 4.3 / 4.5
Your completed project should represent your understanding of developing a project plan. I will be looking for professionalism, proper writing, and depth of analysis and thought. You may submit this as one file or multiple, created in any format that you desire. My interest is in your mastery of the chapter concepts, not whether you have expensive software or your ability to use a specific template.
