The process flow diagram is shown in Figure 1. Based on a 7 hr/day operation, determine the number of workers required for manual sorting, assuming that an average worker can manually sort approximately 2.5 ton/hr. Evaluate the hourly recovery rates of respective materials from the baler and assess whether the baler would be capable of baling all of the materials within a day of operation (the baler is fed in batches by a front end loader when a minimum of 4 tons of material have been accumulated).
