PURPOSE: It is important for Business Analysts to understand who the primary stakeholders are in an initiative, including defining the stakeholders, and analyzing the stakeholders' role on an initiative. Stakeholder Analysis results in a comprehensive communication plan and determines the level of involvement, influence, and authority depending on the stakeholder. Stakeholder Analysis ensures the stakeholder is fully understood so decisions made regarding stakeholder engagement, collaboration, and communication are the best choices for the stakeholder and for the success of the initiative. Document Analysis is a technique that provides initial information about the organization, stakeholders, strategy, culture, competitors, policies, procedures etc. Both contribute to the Planning and Monitoring Knowledge Area.
This assignment uses the City of Hamilton Public Library WiFi Project (Simulated Business Case) to apply skills and knowledge for Stakeholder Analysis and Engagement and Document Analysis
OUTCOMES: By the time you are done this assignment, you should be able to
- Demonstrate Business Analysis techniques using structured templates, formats, and processes (e-cba).
- Use Business Analysis techniques to produce many valid solutions to a business problem (ecba).
- Plan Business Analysis Approach
- Conduct Stakeholder Analysis
- Plan Business Analysis Activities
- Plan Business Analysis Communication
- Communicate clearly, concisely and correctly in the written, spoken and visual form that fulfills the purpose and meets the needs of the audience.
- Use a variety of thinking skills to anticipate and solve problems.
TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- The assignment must be completed in MS Word. Submissions not made using the acceptable format will receive a grade of zero.
- Include student name, student number, assignment title, due date either as a header or a footer. Do NOT include a cover page.
- This is an individual assignment. Each student is required to submit own work. The Academic Integrity Policy is in effect for this assignment.
- Assignments must be submitted to the Assignment One W2023 folder in the course website.
- Late assignments will be accepted into the late assignment folder up to 1 day past the due date. They will ONLY be graded in the event of a failing grade in the course at the end of the semester. Late assignments will be graded at the end of the semester ONLY if a students grade is between 45-49%. The maximum grade in this situation will be a 50%. Late assignments will not be graded if a students final grade is less than 45%. If your assignment is late, submit it to the LATE ASSIGNMENTS folder.
- Assignments that are emailed to faculty will NOT be graded.
- Technical Issues are not a reason for late submission or to request additional submissions via email. Late submissions or additional documents that are emailed to faculty will NOT be graded. Some courses are set up for 1 submission. This is done purposely. It does NOT matter if you indicate that you are submitting before the due date. Students have 1 chance for submission. It is the student's responsibility to ensure that ALL documents required for the assignment are attached in the 1 submission.
- Students are allowed ONE attempt to submit an assignment. Make sure it is the FINAL version that you want to submit. Request for re-submission will not be accepted.
- Turnitin is used to detect plagiarism. If plagiarism is suspected, you will receive a grade of zero at the very least. Dont risk it!

INSTRUCTIONS:
- Prepare a document analysis with a minimum of 5 items from a minimum of 2 different sources
- Prepare a Stakeholder Engagement and Analysis Plan for the City of Hamilton Public Library WiFi Project. Assume that you are starting the project from the beginning. Identify stakeholders. Map stakeholders. Make decisions about engagement based on the analysis.
- Add in a brief rationale for how you determined criteria for each stakeholder in Stakeholder Analysis
