PURPOSE: It is important for Business Analysts to understand who the primary stakeholders are in an initiative, including defining the stakeholders, and analyzing the stakeholders' role on an initiative. Stakeholder Analysis results in a comprehensive communication plan and determines the level of involvement, influence, and authority depending on the stakeholder. Stakeholder Analysis ensures the stakeholder is fully understood so decisions made regarding stakeholder engagement, collaboration, and communication are the best choices for the stakeholder and for the success of the initiative. Document Analysis is a technique that provides initial information about the organization, stakeholders, strategy, culture, competitors, policies, procedures etc. Both contribute to the Planning and Monitoring Knowledge Area.
