Assignment overview

In this assignment, you will identify and research a current issue related to the course topics by looking at recent news/events. You can also monitor news from other countries to compare coverage of the problem from different international perspectives.

In writing (individually), leverage the application of course concepts to provide clear, comprehensive and logically consistent strategic guidance to a firm (CLO9). Communicate clearly, concisely, and correctly in the written, spoken, and visual form that fulfills the purpose and meets the needs of the audience (EES1). Locate, select, organize, and document information using appropriate technology and information systems (EES6). Analyze, evaluate, and apply relevant information from a variety of sources (EES7).

Instructions

1. Select a company of your choice. This company should be facing a current problem or challenge. Ensure that the problem aligns with at least one theme covered in our course. Approval is required by the professor.

2. Finding recent news events. Research recent news articles, reports, or other reputable sources related to the chosen company and its current problem. Look for news articles, reports, and reputable sources published within the last 3 to 6 months. You can also monitor news from other countries to compare coverage of the problem from different international perspectives.

3. Analysis. Summarize the key details of the problem the company is facing as reported in the news. Be sure to address the following:

• Clearly define the problem.
• Discuss the causes or contributing factors.
• Analyze the potential impact on the company's operations, reputation, and stakeholders.

4. Recommendations. Based on your analysis, propose at least two strategic recommendations that the company could consider to address or to mitigate the problem. Explain why you believe these recommendations are viable and how they align with the course material. Make sure to consider ethical aspects of the problem and recommendations.

5. Create a Sketch Note/Visual representation. Use handwritten words and visual illustrations such as drawings, boxes, lines, arrows, etc. to illustrate the main concepts from the lectures as well as their interrelations, if applicable. I am looking for clear, visual communication of course concepts more than an expression of your artistic abilities.

Submission Guidelines

• Your completed sketch note / visual representation of your findings, analysis, and recommendations
• Oral presentation narrating your completed sketch note / visual representation (maximum 7mn). Use slides or other visuals to enhance your presentation
• Ensure that you cite and reference all the sources used in your research and adhere to the academic integrity policies of St. Lawrence College. Copying any material and submitting it as your own (plagiarism) is an academic offence. Plagiarism will systematically result in failure of the assignment
• APA format is required for citations and references.
• Submit your assignment by the specified deadline.
