ASSIGNMENT OVERVIEW

Instead of a final exam, there will be a major assignment due at the end of the semester. It can be either a paper OR an in$-$class presentation on April $6.$ The assignment can done either individually or in groups of $2-7($it is preferable that this assignment be completed in groups$).$

ASSIGNMENT INSTRUCTIONS

In a group of $2-5,$ research any ethical issue of your choice. State the ethical issue in terms of a moral choice. For example, should be illegal $($or legal$)"$ or is morally unacceptable $($or acceptable$)."$ If there are qualifications, state them clearly $($for example, should be illegal $($or legal$)$ only if$..."$ or is morally unacceptable $($or acceptable$)$ only if$...").$

In your presentation or paper, you must:

Identify the stakeholders

Discuss the ethical issues involved

Discuss the applicable laws

Describe at least one Kantian argument for each side of the discussion

Describe at least one utilitarian argument for each side of the discussion

Discuss other arguments that come to mind for each of the following ethical theories:

Divine command theory

Virtue ethics

Egoism
