Assignment, part 1: Create a visual timeline of the mechanic's lien process. Be sure to include all the different steps and who is responsible for doing each step. Your timeline can be drawn by hand, or created with the graphics functions in applications like MS Word, PowerPoint or Google Drawing, or a combination of hand and computer-generated information. To turn in your end result, you can scan your creation, turn it into a pdf or jpg, or take a picture of it. For full credit, make sure your timeline includes each of the following with notes about who files it, timing restrictions, and any factors that might affect it:

• preliminary notice (who files this and when) and date work started (how is this defined)
• completion (there are several ways to establish this)
• notice of completion (who files this and when)
• notice of cessation (who files this and when)
• notice of non-responsibility (who files this and why)
• when the lien can be filed (show the different timelines depending on who is filing)
