• The whole proposal in Microsoft Word format (15 marks). The pages should be numbered. The number of pages can be between 15 to 30. Upload it on Canvas.
• The power point slide deck (5 marks) which you will use to present your proposal to the whole audience. Upload it on Canvas.
• Class Presentation will be made by your group using the power point slide deck during your regular class time in Week 14. Each member will have to take up parts of the proposal to present to the audience that may include the professor, classmates and possibly an external examiner. You will get 12 minutes to present and there will be 3 minutes for questions from the audience including your professor and external examiner.

For years, a controversy has been brewing over the amount of junk food and soft drinks being sold through vending machines in local schools. Schools benefit from revenue sharing arrangements, but many parents and health experts are concerned about the negative effects of these snacks and beverages. Your company have almost a decade of experience running juice stands in malls, and you'd love to find some way to expand your business into schools. After a quick brainstorming session, your company crafts a plan that makes good business sense while meeting the financial concerns of school administrators and the nutritional concerns of parents and dieticians.

Here are the notes from your brainstorming session:

• Set up portable juice bars in local schools offering healthy fruit and vegetable drinks along with simple, healthy snacks.
• Offer schools 30 percent of profits in exchange for free space and long-term contracts.
• Provide job training opportunities for students (for example, during athletic events).
• Provide detailed dietary analysis of all products sold.
• Establish a nutritional advisory board composed of parents, students, and at least one certified health professional.
• Assure schools and parents that all products are safe (for example, no stimulant drinks, no dietary supplements).
• Support local farmers and specialty food preparers by buying locally and giving these vendors the opportunity to test market new products at your stands.

Introduction

The introduction for a proposal... "presents and summarizes the problem or opportunity you will address along with your proposed solution, including any benefits that reader will receive from your solution."

The introduction will contain:

• Brief background or statement of the problem / opportunity
• Briefly reviews the reader's situation and establishes reason for action.
• Brief solution: Briefly describes the change you propose and highlights your key selling points and their benefits, showing how your proposal will help readers achieve their business objectives
• Scope: State what is and is not covered in the proposal

Body

The proposal's body... "gives complete details on the proposed solution and specifieshow the job will be done, how it will be divided into tasks, what method will be used to do it (including the required equipment, material, and personnel). When the work will begin and end, how much the entire job will cost (including a detailed breakdown, why your company is qualified, and also what the anticipated results will be."

The body of a proposal will contain:

• Proposed solution - Describes what you have to offer (service; product; opportunity) why it will make a difference and its unique benefits
• Work Plan - Describes what you plan to do in detail: timings; resources; methods; venues etc
• Statement of Qualifications - You/your organization's experience, knowledge, expertise and other credentials
• Costs - Detailed breakdown of all costs

Conclusion

The summary will briefly:

• Summarize key points; emphasize the benefits; summarize why your proposal is the best option; emphasize the proposal as an opportunity to be taken now and ask the reader for a decision.
