In this assignment you will submit spot the bloopers in order to demonstrate your learning of the following module objectives:

Identify the use of commas correctly in punctuating dates, time zones, addresses, geographical items, and appositives.

Using the skills you are learning in this class identify why the following items are bloopers:

Blooper 1: E-mail message sent to homeowners in a subdivision: I was advised this morning that there has been people going door to door and giggling the front door handles on homes. [Did you spot two errors?]

Blooper 2: Electronic sign on the front of a high school: School canceled Thursday and Friday, December 11 and 12, do to severe weather. [Did you spot two errors?]

Blooper 3: Sentence printed in a British newspaper: The defendant said his barrister had a history of drug abuse. [How could two commas have changed the meaning of this sentence?]

Blooper 4: A large portable sign located near Soperton, Georgia: We sell crack and shell pecans.[How would the addition of commas change the meaning of this sentence?]

Blooper 5: Poster for a university departmental event: Door prizes will include lab equipment, books written by members of the biology department and a fruitcake.

Blooper 6: Sign outside a restaurant in Grenada, Mississippi: LETS EAT SENIOR CITIZENS.
