Choose two different processes from home , work or where you're a customer. Take a look at the processes and record the 8 wastes of Lean that you observe in the form below. You will also need to observe the process several times in order to identify repeated operations / tasks / patterns and waste in the process. Compile your results and observations on 8 lean waste in a 1-2 page paper.
Step 1: Describe the Waste in as much detail as possible.
Step 2: Document the exact location of the Waste.
Step 3: Use creativity and problem solving techniques to identify possible solutions to eliminate or minimize the waste. You should include as many team members in the creative thinking session as possible.
Step 4: Identify the priority level of making the correction. Use a scale from 1 to 5 (with 5 being the highest priority and 1 being the lowest).
Step 4: Determine if the correction initiatives can be done during your normal daily activities without getting approval or initiating a project. If a project is required start the Initiating phase of the Project Management Life Cycle.
