Assignments will consist of two short papers and a problem-solving exercise. The two short papers will be on leadership and a critical thinking exercise on liability. These will be one to two pages typed and double spaced. The first paper will be about a describing an individual (real or fictitious) who you believe to be a good leader and a person who you believe to be a bad leader.

This will include what characteristics the person possesses, what activities they perform that make them fit into the category of good or bad. The second paper will be about the issues involved in police liability. The issue will be presented to you and the assignment will be an analysis of cases relevant to the issue and your decision as a police leader. One of the pages should address policy issues. The third paper will be a using a troubled community scenario and a given budget. Students will choose what ten programs are most needed, and in what order, with a rationalization of the rankings. A complete community policing delivery service plan is expected.
