At the activity table Oliver sat down with me. On the table, I had set up some transport and Australian animal counters. Oliver as he sat down picked up the plane in his hand and said, oh plane and that's a boat, that's a koala and so on pointing and naming all the different counter shapes. I asked Oliver if could separate all the counters and put each similar counter together by demonstrating one for him. I can do that he replied and started sorting out the counters. Within a few minutes he had all the similar counters in separate groups, sorted according to their shapes. I then asked Oliver if he could sort out the counters into groups of colour and I first demonstrated one to him, and also asked him to name all the colours.
