Attorney Chapa has asked that you create a technology plan for the office. She has provided you with these resources:
- What Technology Do Law Offices Use?
- Essential Technology to Launch a Solo or Small Law Firm, Part 1: Hardware
- Essential Technology to Launch a Solo or Small Law Firm: Part 2
- Essential Technology to Launch a Solo or Small Law Firm: Part 3
- What Technology Is The Best Fit for Your Law Firm?
- The ABA's Legal Technology Buyer's Guide
Use the knowledge you have gained from this course thus far and additional research to create a technology hardware and software proposal for the law firm.
Your proposal should include:
- A description of the computer system that you would recommend. Your description should include the hardware needed to access the internet and the hardware necessary to perform common office tasks (printing, copying, scanning, etc.). Please provide your reasoning for selecting each item.
- A list of three types of hardware (i.e., smartphone, laptop) will be provided to each legal team member, and explain your reasoning for your recommendations. Remember, the legal team routinely travels to criminal and civil courthouses for hearings, for meetings with clients, and to discuss cases with opposing counsel.
- Provide a list of three types of software that you would recommend for the law practice and explain the reasoning for your selections. You may include software as a service (Saas). Ideally, you will select software that addresses case management and litigation support needs.
Attorney Chapa has asked you to draft your proposal in a Word document that is at least 2 pages long. Then, password protect the document and include the password as a comment in the Dropbox so that your instructor is able to open your proposal.
