BA 250 - HOMEWORK GUIDELINES

• This is a group assignment. I will randomly determine your groups consisting of 4 or 5 people. You

  should be able to communicate via videoconferences.

• Your task is to formulate a mathematical model for the business problem you figured up, and then solve this problem via mixed integer linear programming.

• In your model, a number of decision variables should be between 8 and 12. Among them, there should be at least two 0-1 integer variables, two integer variables, and two real variables.

• In your model, a number of constraints should be between 10 and 15.

• You should first define the business problem you figured up by explaining what the problem is. Then, you should define what the objective is, what you want to learn for optimization, and what your limitations are. Please be sure you are explaining these clearly and in detailed.

• You should show me in your report that what you have written (figured) in your scenario corresponds to which equation (objective function and constraints) in your mathematical model.

• It is your responsibility to design a model that gives feasible and bounded solution. I will not consider models that do not provide these criteria because it implies you are making logical fallacy while modelling the problem.

• By using QM software, you should show optimal solution (i.e. the optimal values of decision variables and objective function). Please share the screenshots in your report.

• In your report, you should report the results of sensitivity analysis and summarize the important findings in your sensitivity analysis. Please share the screenshots in your report.

• In order to eliminate opportunism, I will request you to grade the efforts of your team members. You will write your grades directly to me (metehan.sorkun@ieu.edu.tr) until 15th of January. I will surely keep them confidential. If you do not write, I will assume all members do their best.

• You should submit your reports via Blackboard (Assignments). The file format should be PDF. Only one group member shall submit the report to system. Please do not make multiple submissions.

• The due date for submission is 15th of January. Any delay less than a week would directly break 30% of your grade. Delays more than a week will not be considered.

• Assessment Criteria: o Definition of original business problem in accordance with homework requirements. (20 pts) o Proper mathematical model in aligned with the defined problem. (15 pts) o Highlighting clearly which math equation represents which part of the problem. (10 pts) o The outputs of problem solution and sensitivity analysis. (10 pts) o The detailed interpretation of sensitivity analysis results. (20 pts) o The quality of report in terms of language, structure, figures, clarity and etc. (15 pts) o Your group members grades. (10 pts)
