Background
You are a USbased manager at a large global software company. The company goes to market with resellers and implementation partners around the world. These partners profit from both the resale of your software and the implementation and maintenance services they can sell along with your software.
Your organization is hosting a training course on your products and solutions for your partners around the globe. This training will help your partners learn the latest software capabilities and provide additional information about installation and troubleshooting. There is a central organization building the training content. Your manager has tasked you with organizing the delivery of the training worldwide. The training will be held live virtually two times each day for three days. The first time is to support US and European time zones. The second is to support time zones in the Asia Pacific, Japan, and China regions. Each training is two hours long and contains unique content for each of the three days. Each training requires a host. Hosting entails ensuring the meeting technology is working properly, handling issues with people joining the virtual event, managing questions and answers for the presenter, welcoming the partners to the call, and closing the call with a training summary.
You've done this before and can train others how to do it Other subject matter experts worldwide understand the technology but have not hosted previously, including in Singapore. You would do it yourself, but that would require you to be awake about hours a day for three days, so you need help. Developing others with this skill in other parts of the world will help them develop and progress in their careers and help you scale in your work. The thought occurs to you that you need help from the Singapore office to focus on the training for the US and Europe. Moreover, developing others with this skill in other parts of the world will help them develop and progress in their careers and help you scale in your work.
Assignment
Part : You must write an email to ask a director in Singapore for an individual to host the training in the APJC region. This director is a level higher in the organization than you are. You can make up the training dates, the director's name, etc. The objective is to get the director to identify an individual and dedicate their time to delivering this training. Use what you learned in "the basics of effective business emails" and do a little research on conducting business in Singapore.
Part : The director has not replied for three days. Since you haven't heard back from him, you are beginning to worry about the timeline for the training. Send a followup email.
Part : Explain your considerations in writing parts one and two. What influenced your choices of words, tone, and phrasing based on the professional nature of the email and the differences in titleposition and culture? This can be one or two paragraphs of explanation.
