COMMENTS: INTRODUCTORY PARAGRAPH | YES | NO | NA | The introductory paragraph is professional, yet attention-grabbing and creative. This paragraph delineates the position for which you are applying and describes how you heard about the opening. If you were referred by an individual, mention it here, with that person's permission. A sentence describes how you meet the basic requirements for the job (e.g., education, graduation date, major, certifications, etc). This paragraph briefly highlights why you are interested in the job and organization. COMMENTS: The letter identifies your strongest and most relevant qualifications, skills and abilities, highlighting 1-3 clear examples. It does more than simply restate what appears on your resume. You clearly state how your strengths are relevant to the position and meet the employer's needs. The letter focuses on what you can contribute to the employer, not what the employer can do for you. The letter incorporates key words from the position description, demonstrating a strong match. The letter is positive, emphasizing your strengths, not apologizing for experience you lack. Details of experience are in bulleted format and accomplishment focused. -- Accomplishments are quantified using numbers, percentages, dollar amounts, ages, or other measures, as appropriate. Described experiences are relevant to the advertised position, focused on key words, employer's needs, and preferred qualifications. Affiliations are only included in a resume if you are, or have been, actively involved (e.g., Only mention organization membership if you have attended their meetings or events.). Each statement begins with strong and varied action verbs. Current positions are described using present tense (ex., use "collaborate," not "collaborating"). Previous experiences are explained with past tense verbs. COMMENTS: Specific, relevant skills are prominently enumerated, including technology skills, foreign language proficiency, first aid certification, etc. References are provided on a separate document. "References available on request\" is not included on the resume. COMMENTS: PPLICANT TRACKING SOFTWARE (ATS) RECOMMENDATIONS Atemplate is not used. Headers, footers, tables, columns and italics are not used. Key words/phrases from job description are incorporated throughout resume. Standard bullet points are used, not asterisks or different symbols. Acronyms are both spelled out and included in shorthand. Document is saved as a Word DOC or PDF. Be sure to follow the employer's instructions regarding application submission. The saved document title includes student name and the term, "resume." COMMENTS: > e m wn - > Z o N-DISCRIMINATION TIPS A photo, headshot or clipart is not included. Unless a requirement for the job, personal demographic information such as marital status, family composition, age, medical conditions, gender identity, race, religion or political affiliations should generally not be included on a resume. In addition, it is illegal for employers to ask questions about these areas during an interview. Including the names of organizations on your resume with which you are involved may lead an employer to make assumptions about your demographic information. It is within a student's purview to include such information, but is not recommended if they would like such matters to remain confidential. COMMENTS: Resume Reviewed By: 8 m B >
