- Based on the claim presented by your peer, state the null and alternative hypothesis and process you would take to determine if you would Reject or Fail to Reject Ho.
- Based on the data and history presented by your peer, state a new claim and explain why you think your claim is valid.
The info below is the peer I have to respond to with the instructions above
Based on the trends and history of the data, I would claim that the average number of murders and manslaughters for 20 years between 1997 and 2016 is on average 16,000. The number of years that had a greater number of murders and manslaughters is 50%. A right-tailed test would be completed to find this information since I am looking for values greater than the mean.
To figure out whether this hypothesis is true, I would need to know, the mean, the hypothesized mean, the number of values, the standard deviation, the level of significance, the test statistic, and the p-value
I would then need to analyze and conclude whether the hypothesis is true based on the p-value.If the p-value is greater than .50 then I fail to reject the hypothesis. If it is less than .50 I would reject it.
