Based on the responses below, what are some feedbacks or comments you have for each respons?
- According to Hackman, there are five necessary conditions for team effectiveness; a real team, compelling direction, enabling structure, supportive organizational context, and expert coaching (Burton et al., 2020). In my opinion, the three most important conditions are being a real team, having a compelling direction, and expert coaching.
Being a real team means that members show interdependence. Instead of a group of people just working alongside each other while doing a task, a real team means that everyone contributes to an overall task, a "team task" (Burton et al., 2020). The various team members work together effectively by capitalizing individual strengths and skills to efficiently complete the task. We all worked really well together on my high school baseball team. We did not all have the same skill or strength but when you put all of our individual abilities together it made for an effective team.
- The three that I think are most important is enabling structure, supportive organizational context, and expert coaching. Enabling structure is when a team has the right amount of players, and everyone is a little different and has different skills, and that as a coach you teach your team how to play together (Burton et al., 2019.) An example of this would be is the AAU team I was on in 7th grade. We did not enable structure. We had 15 girls on one team, and the same girls played every game and the whole game. It created a lot of division because those girls were only used to working with the same girls so when we would practice or he would put someone in that is different we wouldn't have a good rhythm because we didn't know how to work as a team. It was bad because at that age is when a lot of kids are ball hogs so it encouraged that. Supportive organization context is the environment that the team is in. This involves rewards, negative and positive reinforcement (Burton et al., 2019.) My AAU team in 9th grade was a really close knitted team. We were all best friends, we had some problems but for the most part we all got along really well as players and we got along with our coach. Our coach was really big on getting better everyday and doing things to make us better so he used a lot of positive reinforcement and also gave us feedback on how to improve. Expert coaching is when you try to improve the teams performance and provide them with the resources and skills to do so (Burton et al., 2019.)The same coach I had with the previous example above was like that. He did everything to make us a good team he sent us to the best tournaments that had good competition and made us get out of our comfort zones. He was always giving us pep talks and would yell at us when we needed it because he knew we could do better. We worked on basic skills everyday because he knew that those were the most important ones that we all needed to be able to master.

There are many benefits to compelling direction such as, it energizes, orients, and engages everyone involved in the team. This is more productive for team effectiveness because everyone is focused on the same direction. The next condition is enabling structure. There are three assumptions that leaders can make, those being, assuming bigger is better, similarity facilitates team process, and everyone knows how to work as a team member (Burton et al., p. 213, 2020). When creating a team, it is really important to consider if everyone knows how to work as a team. This will help you determine who needs to be placed in what positions. The size of the group is also important to understand.
