Based on this paper criteria write:In my research on Math and Cultural Relevance, I will explore how integrating cultural contexts into mathematics education can enhance student engagement and understanding, particularly for diverse learners. This topic resonates deeply with me as it highlights the importance of creating inclusive classrooms that reflect and honor the varied backgrounds of students, fostering a sense of belonging in mathematics. The Math-Trivium framework developed by Umeh (2025) provides a valuable model to guide high school teachers in delivering equitable instruction to newcomer students. Additionally, the insights from Deehan et al. (2025) on the accessibility of STEM education in rural areas, along with Vos et al. (2024) discussing students' perceptions of the relevance of advanced mathematics, will inform my lesson planning. I will also reference MacDonald and Murphy (2021), whose systematic review underscores the necessity of foundational mathematics education, thereby linking cultural relevance to early mathematical experiences.
