Bay Area Physicians

While Bay Area Physicians is successfully transitioning to the new system, some questions have come up regarding revenue cycle management. First, the clinic hopes that the new system will contribute to a more efficient revenue cycle. Second, depending on the payment model adapted by the clinic (value-based purchasing, pay-for-performance, etc.) certain sets of data will need to be reported. The administration is not sure on how the system will support any of these models when it comes to data collection and reporting. Also, since the clinic became a Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) more questions have come up about population health, specifically regarding measuring and monitoring quality and data sharing with other organizations within the PCMH.

1. What are some of the desired system capabilities when it comes to supporting an effective and efficient revenue cycle?
2. With the goal in mind improving population health, what tools, systems, and technologies can the organization use? (Keep in mind the system that is already implemented and cost minimization).
