Outpatient visit: The patient came in complaining of severe abdominal pain. Abdominal scout film showed scoliosis and some degenerative changes in the lumbar spine. However, a high osmolar contrast abdominal CT scan showed extensive diverticulosis involving the descending and sigmoid portions of the colon, with obvious evidence of diverticulitis.
Diagnosis: Diverticulitis.
