Ben and Jerry's Inc. is an ice cream company that is famous for its delicious flavors such as Chocolate Fudge Brownic, Chunky Monkey, Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough and Half-Baked. Each type of ice cream is produced in Blend Tank where all of the ingredients are blenderized by a very skilled and experienced person known as the Mix Master. Daily ice cream production capacity is maximum of 100 gallons and the orders of ice-cream arrived to Mix Master are given below: Flavor Chocolate Fudge Brownic Chunky Monkey Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Half-Baked Order Size (gallons) 385 440 200 180 Due Date (days) 3 8 6 12 After the completion of any batch of mix, Blend Tank must be cleaned before switching to other type of flavors and cleaning is required only when flavors are switched. Cleaning process requires one day under normal conditions however, if Chocolate Fudge Brownie or Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough is produced after Chunky Monkey or Half-Baked, an extra day of cleaning is required. For that reason, they decide that Chocolate Fudge Brownie and Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough flavors will be produced before Chunky Monkey and Half-Baked flavors. Note that, cleaning process always starts at the beginning of the day. 1. Determine the sequence of flavors to minimize the maximum lateness. (Clearly define your comments, assumptions, and show your calculations in detail, etc.) (20 pt) 2. Draw the Gantt chart indicating the obtained schedule (15 pt).
