Benchmarking, baselining and auditing frequently provide current measures needed to determine if processes are functioning as expected if goals are being met, where we need to make improvements as well as where we stand with the competition (see Baldrige Criteria 4 and your text).

Provide an example of how you use benchmarking or baselining, either personally or at work. Does your organization use baselines or auditing, or both? What about benchmarking - if so, what/whom did they use?If you are not aware of any current example, please suggest how one of these might be beneficial in your organization relative to a specific function, goal or current work effort and how it might be used. Do not forget knowledge management! What roles these play in addressing Criteria 4 in Baldrige?
