Scenario

There was a multi stories apartment building project for which a deep construction was designed for a parking with $3-$meter height below the ground level on a raft $($Mat$)$ foundation.

Then, a $3-$meter excavation was needed to create the parking space, but it could not happen without a proper retaining wall along the boundary, first. ABC geotechnical contractor was the project consultant who did soil investigation and provided a geotechnical report in which the soil properties was given. Accordingly, structural designer designed a continuous concrete wall as the retaining wall system. This system was suitable only in a site with pure sand soil for which a special plant and equipment were needed to excavate the site. The system included a gap with $400mm$ wide and $6$ meters deep along the boundary that enable immediate placing reinforcement and pouring prefabricated concrete transported to the site by concrete mixer trucks. Pouring concrete was supposed to be followed by placing vertical $6-$meters bars in two layers every $300mm.$ The site was identified as a different soil type that contains hard limestone impeding the special plant operation when the construction started. It was about winter with heavy rains that caused the client to worry about heavy rain to stop the project progress. The sub$-$structure $($below the ground level$)$ was planned to be completed before rainy season. The operation failed after two hours of the project commencement. A high volume of concrete was ordered, and concrete trucks got stuck and could not unload concrete on site. There was a bad traffic outside the site. The trucks went back to destroy the concrete.
