Topic Information Flow along the Supply Chain

Learning outcome - As an outcome of this assignment, the student should be able to identify and describe, using examples:

explain why information flow is important in supply chains and describe the types of information transmitted among supply chain participants

identify and describe the information technologies that can be applied is supply chain managements

identify both the benefits of supply chain information flows and the major major obstacles to implementing it

explain the relationship between enterprise resource planning (ERP) and supply chain information systems

Content - The basic content of this assignment should include the following aspects:

Information flow and its importance in supply chains

Types of information transmitted among supply chain participants

Intracompany information technology (IT) and its use in supply chain management (SCM)

Types of linking technologies that can be applied in supply chain management

Benefits and obstacle of supply chain information flows implementation

Relationship between ERP and supply chain information systems

Measuring information technology effectiveness in supply chain processes

Deliverables This assignment is divided into two parts:

The first part includes both a main idea & details worksheet and a PowerPoint presentation

The second part consist of an oral presentation (including questions & answers session)

Evaluation criteria This final assignment will be graded based of the following criteria:

Main idea & details worksheet and PP presentation - 8 points out of 20

Oral presentation - 12 points out of 20

A single mark will be awarded to the team (same mark for all group members)

Requirements This assignment should comply with the following requirements:

Written document submission which must include both an idea & details worksheet (2 - 3 pages length, using the attached template) and; PP presentation (12 - 20 slides)

Oral presentation: 10 -15 minutes questions and answers based on the topic and content of this assignment (all group members must be able to answer all questions)
