Week 6 Directions: For this course, you will be required to work with a team to compile research on a country. You will be assigned to a team at the end of the first week. Each team will focus on a different country for their research. This is not to be a book report on the country you are researching; rather, your task is to make business strategy decisions based on your research. In each week's activities folder, there will be a Team Collaboration Area to use to discuss ideas, share research, and develop thoughts. There will be weekly deliverables that your team will work on each week, and as a team will compile a finished product out of the deliverables at the end of the course. Your grade will be divided into two components: The first is based on the paper your team will submit. The second will be your individual participation, the content you contributed through research, and how well you worked with your teammates. Weekly Deliverables: To complete each of the weekly deliverables, use the weekly Team Collaboration Area to work with your team. Respond to the items for each week's deliverable with support from scholarly resources (include the APA citation). Week 2: Team Country's Culture Describe the nation's social structure, education system, political environment, legal system, and monetary system. Describe the ethnicities that reside in the nation, and how they do or do not form distinct subcultures. Describe and identify the religions practiced in the country, and language(s) spoken. Identify the manners, customs, and values that the people possess. Describe the peoples' attitudes toward work, time, and cultural change. Compare and contrast your team's country to other countries including: how does the country compare to the others in terms of business ethics and social responsibility, and why it is important in business decision making? Week 3: Team Country's Economy Examine and explain the importance of trade (trade as a share of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP)) to the country you are studying. Outline and identify the products and services the country exports and imports, and the nations the country trades with. Analyze and describe whether there is a concentrated effort to promote exports in order to stimulate the nation's economy. Analyze and describe the extent of the country's influence and/or intervention in trade. Describe the country's political, economic, and cultural motives behind this influence and/or intervention. Assess and explain if the country maintains a free trade zone within its borders. Week 4: Team Country's Regional Integration Efforts For the regional integration efforts the country may participate in, include the following: Identify the possible regional integration efforts the country participates in. Identify what other nations are members. Assess and explain the economic, political, and social objectives that drive the integration. Evaluate and explain the positive and negative results that this integration has produced thus far. Predict at least two strategies an American organization could use to form a \"Strategic Alliance\" with one of the country domestic companies (focus on how a U.S. company would enter the country's market). Justify your reasoning. Week 5: Team Country's Exchange Rates Identify the city that serves as the financial center of the country. Identify if the country is a member of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), and if it participates in a regional monetary system to manage exchange rates. Identify the exchange rate between the country's currency and the U.S. currency. Evaluate and explain what factors are responsible for the stability or volatility in that exchange rate. Assess and describe the possible restrictions on the exchange of the country's currency. Week 6: Upload your Team's Portfolio Project to your ePortfolio. Teams will now combine and assemble all of the information they gathered through their weekly deliverables into one comprehensive Portfolio Project. Although this is a group project, each student must individually upload his/her completed Portfolio Project to his/her ePortfolio. Week 6: Team Evaluation Form You are required to complete a Team Evaluation Form (available in Week 1), where you will evaluate each team member's participation, including your own.
