CH3&4- Relational DBase Model and ER Diagrams
Initial Post (Due by end of day Wednesday to avoid late points):
In Chapter 3, we briefly discussed the 12 rules (there are actually 13, originally numbered 0-12) that Dr. E. F. Codd first published back in 1985(almost 40 years ago!!) to define what is required from a database management system in order for it to be considered relational. Review the list (see Table 13.8) and determine which of those you would consider to be the MOST important (1 point) and why (1 point) AND which you would consider to be the LEAST important (1 point) and why (1 point).
In Chapter 4, we explored the topic of entity-relationship (ER) modeling, looking at several Chen and Crow's Foot models. After reviewing the examples list two similarities (2 points) and two differences (2 points) between the two models. Which model do you prefer and why? (1 point)
Peer Posts:
In your responses this week you can either support/challenge the MOST/LEAST important rule and why from Chapter 3 OR you support/challenge your classmate's position on Crow's Feet vs. Chen from Chapter 4
REMEMBER TO USE YOUR CLASSMATE'S NAME IN YOUR RESPONSE and post on rmultiple days to avoid points off.
