CA2 Instructions:

CA2 is an Individual Assignment and carries a weighting of 40%. There are TWO parts: 1) Main argument and 2) Critical response in this individual research and writing assignment on "Poverty and crime linked".

It will be graded out of a possible 75 marks based on the following criteria:

1) Article's main argument - accurate in articulating the main argument - 15 marks. In this part of the assignment, you are to clearly explain in no more than 50 words what you understand to be the article's main argument, or the writer's main thesis.

2) Personal Critical Response to the article's main argument - logical and clear explanation in responsive writing to main points of argument - 40 marks. This forms the major part of your answer. You can compose this section into 3-4 paragraphs. Suggestion: In the first paragraph, you can briefly summarize the main points you might choose to write about. In the following two paragraphs, you should comment on aspects mentioned in the article that you can clearly agree with and those that you find to be arguable. As this is a research assignment, you should plan to do some reading around the given topic. However, please do not merely include what you read; instead you should use your critical thinking skills to analyse research findings/conclusions surrounding the debate. You must use your own words as far as possible and include added evidence from your reading and research findings to support your stance/position. The final paragraph is served as a conclusion. This part should be between 400-450 words.

3) In-text Citation and Referencing - use of at least ONE relevant evidence and accurate creation of In-text citations and References - 10 marks. Please refer to APA documents posted under "Additional Resources" for your immediate reference and use.

4) Language and Expression - appropriate use of tone, vocabulary and grammar - 10 marks. You are expected to revise and edit your work closely to ensure your assignment answer is clear and accurate.

Your answer must be neatly typed using Times New Roman #12, double-line spacing. The length of your submission should be between 450-500 words.
