can a non-significant phi correlation have confound variables? I completed my Phi correlation for my variables of gender and personality. Personality type was either "A or B" so both variables are nominal dichotomous. My result were not significant, can there be any confound variables in this study? I assume since there is no relationship....how can a study have confound variables in a non-existent relationship.

Please further clarify and explain for me????
