Question 1 A centrifuge is a laboratory device that separates particles from a solution based on its density by applying centrifugal force. Basically, centrifuge works by using the principle of sedimentation under the influence of gravitational force. Aside from separating suspended particles in a mixture, centrifuge is commonly used to purify cells, subcellular organelles, viruses, proteins and nucleic acids. Although centrifuge usage is widespread, the selection of proper centrifuge tubes besides rotor system can often be a challenging experience.
