Operationalization it is the procedure of developing specific measures for abstract theoretical concepts; it has two steps: (1) the specification of operational definitions that explain precisely how the concepts or constructs of interest will be empirically measured and (2) the exploration of published literature in the area of investigation to see if there are present approved measures identical to the researcher's operational definitions that can be utilized directly or modified to measure the researcher's theoretical concepts.
