• Using the DSM clinical criteria outlined in your textbook, identify and explain the diagnosis you feel best fits the information in Timothy's case file. Identify and explain two specific clinical criteria that Timothy meets.

After reviewing Timothy's case study, I listed the findings that helped me identify and explain Timothy's diagnosis. Timothy shares his experience of having difficulty falling asleep and waking up in the middle of the night. In addition, he says that he has not felt like eating, which has caused him to lose weight. With this knowledge, I began to suspect that he could have a depressive illness from the beginning. The DSM-5 TR cites daily insomnia, changes in appetite, and changes in weight as clinical criteria for major depressive disorder.
