From their total of 30 branches across the United States, 5 of them has excess capacity for production. The unit manufacturing cost of a pair of gloves would be $0.31, $0.29, $0.32, $0.28 and $0.29 in plants 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 respectively. The unit manufacturing cost of N95 masks would be $0.45, $0.41, $0.46, $0.42 and $0.43 in plants 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 respectively. The unit manufacturing cost of surgical masks would be $0.38, $0.35, $0.40, $0.41 and $0.31 in plants 1, 2, 3, 4 and respectively. a) (6 points) Assuming each product needs to be produced in one plant, find the optimal assignment of products to plants using Hungarian method. b) (7 points) Now assume multiple products can be produced in one plant. Also, sales forecast indicates that 120000, 200000 and 160000 units of gloves, N95 masks and surgical masks should be produced respectively. And plants 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 are found out to have the production capacity to produce 80000, 120000, 80000, 120000, 200000 units regardless of products or combination of products.
