Project ID: 1

This recommendation is based on a flow rate of 400 gallons per minute, a pH of 7.57 and an influent
water temperature of 68 degrees F.
If the off-gas is to be treated, use the calculations for fine bubbble and adjust blower/fan pressures
upwards to over come the additional back-pressure within the system. Consult AEROMIX for
additional sizing information.
The Air to Water (AW) ratio for the entire system is based on the requirement to remove the
limiting contaminant. In this case the limiting contaminant is 1,2-Dichloroethane, which
requires an AW ratio of 395 for Coarse Bubble, and 250 for Fine Bubble.
The exact requirement for each contaminant is listed below.
Required Fan Discharge
To determine the fan capacity, flow in GPM is converted to CFM WW by the formula CFM WW=GPM0.134.
This result is multiplied by the AW ratio to get the required fan output in SCFM.
For Coarse Bubble:
SCFM=(4000.134)395=21,123
SCFM=(4000.134)250=13,369
For Fine Bubble:
Required Tank Size and Chambers
The number and size of the BREEZE tanks depend on the air requirement, the water flow and whether
off gas treatment is required. The BREEZE System handles up to 100 SCFM per chamber for coarse
bubble and 50 SCFM for fine bubble. The number of chambers for each system is shown below.
For Coarse Bubble:
For Fine Bubble:
13,36950=268 Total Chambers.
The hydraulic capacity of any BREEZE Tank is 200 GPM. For a flow of 400 GPM, a minimum of 2
tanks are required. Taking into account the AW ratio and the flow through the system, we recommend
24 Series 9 BREEZE Systems for Coarse Bubble, or 30 Series 9 BREEZE Systems for Fine Bubble.
