Read the following passage carefully und answer the questions on it Ghade was the only child of his parents. He had everything a teenage boy puld ever wish for one would have thought that Gbade would be pampered, but the reverse was the case. His parents provided him with all he needed but they always corrected him whenever he stred. During his primary school days, he was well behaved, performed brilliantly and won many academic awards. However, things took an unexpected turn when Goude entered high school. He got into bad company and lost interest in his studies. He played truant and his grades were affected. His teachers drew the attention of his parents to this change but they were not surprised because it home too he had become rebellious and often threw tantrums. His parents admonished him to stop the bad behaviour and to take his studies seriously. They even withdrew some of his privileges but nothing seemed to work One day during school hours, Gbadle and his friends went to the shopping mall. They walked round the mall looking at the goods on display. Ghade saw a beautiful wristwatch which he liked but did not have enough money to pay for. He walked into the store and surreptitiously slipped the wristwatch into his pocket, He left the store with his friends, the act undiscovered. Ghade was happy that he had managed to pull the act successfully. Unfortunately, as they were leaving the mall, Ghade and his friends were apprchended by security operatives on patrol. They were surprised that the boys were not in school at that time of the day and the boys were taken to the police station Gbade became apprehensive when he learnt that the police had sent for their parents. When Gbade's parents arrived, the police recounted how Ghade was picked up with his friends during school hours. The boys were chastised for not attending school and were ordered to report to the station every morning before going to school for the rest of the term. Their parents were also reprimanded for failing in performing their duties. Just before the boys were released, the officers decided to conduct a routine check on their bags and the stolen wristwatch was discovered. Gbade's parents felt ashamed and wondered where they had gone wrong in his upbringing. The wristwatch was retrieved and Gbade was punished. He became remorseful after realising that he had let his parents down. He then resolved to turn over a new leaf. (a) Why would people think Gbade would be pampered?
