Case discussion: You are called back to work after the COVID-19 crisis allows your employer to re-open. It is a retail store where you work behind the counter waiting on customers. The owner and manager do not require customers to wear masks and allows the customers to come right up to the counter to conduct their business. When they are at the counter their distance from you is less that 3 feet. You bring these issues to your manager and ask that they take steps to protect you and other employers. They refuse, saying it is not necessary or required. You contract the virus and are quarantined and receive medical care. You complain to OSHA as does at least 3 other employees. Is OSHA likely to inspect the business? What are the 5 situations where OSHA can inspect? Does your situation fit any of the categories and if so, which ones would apply. 4. You are the HR person for a small chain of restaurants. It is difficult to find employees during the summer so you decide to see if you can hire some of the youth in town particularly those that are between 14 and 16. Research NH law. Does it have specific laws that regulate employment of youth of that age? Are there any jobs they cannot be hired to perform? 5.
