Case studies are yet another tool to help students learn how to assess business situations and make decisions based upon those assessments. Throughout the course, we will analyze various cases and other $$real world$$ scenarios. These activities will help you $$practice$$ different types of analyses and critical thinking. During this semester you will analyze the R$.$ R$.$ Donelley & Sons case. The case analysis will need to be uploaded to Canvas prior to the end of Week $7($Sunday$,$ July $21$st by $11$:$59$pm$).$ Generally these reports are $5-7$ pages long. This must be your own work, no internet searches for articles pertaining to the case, prior student submissions or Harvard Business Publications.

Generally, your analysis and report will include the following sections:

$1.$ A brief introduction$/$historical analysis of the case $(5$ pts$)$

$2.$ Identification of primary problems$/$issues facing the key stakeholder$($s$)(10$ pts$)$

$3.$ Analysis of the environment

A$.$ External analyses: Full $5$ Forces Analysis evaluating all $5$ forces, which ones are in operation AND why you think they are or are not in operation $(25$ pts$).$

B$.$ Internal analyses: resources, capabilities, core competence, VRIO results $($valuable$,$ rare, imitability & organization$)$ along with competitive consequences and performance implications $($example in the internal analysis Panapto and Powerpoint slides$)(25$ pts$).$

$4.$ What you view as the solution $(10$ pts$).$

$5.$ Your Recommendations as to the steps required to achieve your solution $(25$ pts$).$
