Case Study 2: Mother's Group
Two newly qualified social workers working in a family and a childcare team shared their experience of working with mothers who seemed isolated during the day. They thought the women would benefit from the support and company of other women who were in a similar position, and, if successful, they felt the group could eventually run itself. They decided to discuss their idea of a group with their team leader and received a great deal of support. The team leader gave them permission to recruit a team of social workers to serve on a task force to address the issue. Today is the first task force meeting of this group of social workers. The group's goal is to develop and implement some type of services to support the identified population.
