Case Study Assignment Instructions

The four case studies in this class are intended to help you simulate working with the hiring process of:

Job development and analysis

Preparation of a job description that can be a valuable tool in recruiting and retaining quality employees

Screening resumes and applications to ensure the most qualified applicants receive an interview

Preparing and conducting interviews

Your week 2 case study assignment: Choose a job and research the educational requirements and the qualifications for the job. My suggestion is to choose a job in the career you want to pursue after you complete your own education.

Your case study report for this week should include: 1)the due date of the case study report and your name, 2) the job you chose, 3) the educational requirements, 4) the qualifications, 5) the reason you want to use this job for your case studies in this class.

When you are responding to items 3, 4, & 5, be specific. Items 3 & 4 should be at least one well-written paragraph. Item 5 should be at least 3 well-written paragraphs. Please put some effort into this first case study in order to have a good foundation for the other three you will be doing this term.

Educational Requirements: This should be at least one well-written paragraph that describes the educational requirements including apprenticeships, time in grade, licenses, certifications, etc.

Qualifications: This should describe items that are based upon the persons work experience, training, and credentials outside of formal education or items listed above.

Reason for Choosing This Job: This should be a personal explanation of your own thought process in deciding to base the case studies in this course on this particular job. Please be clear about why this job appeals to you. To receive full credit, you will need at least 3 well-written paragraphs for this section.
