CASE STUDY: PERCEPTION Dayang and Nurfaizah work in the same department in a mult-national company (MNC) in Maluysa and report to Mrs. Zee. They are co-workers and have been working together in the same department for the past three vears. Due to their close relationship, they get along well during and also after office hours. Both of them share the same interests at work and they plan their career paths together. Last week, Dayang noticed that Nurfaizah was called by Mrs. Zee several tienes and she later heard from other colleagues that Nurfaizah has been selected to represent the organization in one of the training overseas. Dayang was devastated as she was hoping to be selected. She had the impression that Nurhafizah has been going behind her back to seek permission to attend the training from Mrs. Zee all by herself. Since then, Dayang has been avoiding Nurfaltah and this has created a not-so-harmonious woeking atmosphere in the office. Yesterday, Mrs. Zee called Dayang to her office and handed her the imvitation letter to attend the same training with Nurfaizah. Dayang was elated but also confused. TIll be happy to attend the training but I was informed that Nurtaizah would be representing the organization," she says. Mra. Zee responded, "well, actually I am sending both of you as I need both of you to enhance knowledge and at the same times, create and build the social network for the organization there. Sorry. 1 should have informed you much earlier but my schedule was kind of tight and toverlook the matter. 1 was made to understand that many of the participants are the same interest and this would help us to market our products to them."
