The issue of child marriage in Malaysia is ongoing for a long time. Increasing the minimum age of marriage in Malaysia had received mix views. Various NGOs and politicians have urged the government to increase the minimum age of marriage. However, some states in Malaysia are against abolishing child marriage on religious grounds. On the other hand, Indonesia, a country with majority Muslim population had moved to increase minimum age of marriage for women to 19.
