CASE STUDY Read the case study below carefully and then answer the questions that follow: Siya Zwane, the newly appointed principal at Green Acres Primary School, was briskly making her way down the hall to Unathi Mageles classroom when she passed a colleague from the maths department. Good morning, Ms Rametse, she greeted in a cheerful voice. But Florence Rametse just carried on her way, as though she had not seen Zwane. Never mind, Zwane mumbled to herself as she carried on to Mageles grade three science class. She fiddled with her click pen, the click-clicks helping her to analyse this exchange with her co-worker. One of her highest priorities since becoming principal five months ago was to create a positive working environment for the teachers that began with ordinary displays of respect and appreciation. Zwane had made a concerted effort to lead by example and it irked her that her colleague did not reciprocate the same energy. Perhaps Rametse was just in her own world and meant no disrespect toward her. But deep down she suspected Rametse was deliberately ignoring her as a show of dissent.
