You are a new project manager at Goldrush Electronics (GE). The company produces a range of electronic products and has a strong commitment to project management. However, GE does not operate as a projectized organization, so each project team requires that team members be pulled away from their primary roles to support the project. At any one time, there are at least four projects going on simultaneously. The newest project you will be leading is the development of an experimental smart device.

This new project will require at least 10 weekly hours from 1-2 employees of each of the company's functional departments. You are new to the company and do not know the managers of each department. Also, the new device you will be working on is a new venture for the company, and there are rumors that the company will not support the project if it does not have early success.
