The COVID-19 spreads through human contact. It is for this reason the government of Ghana has banned social gatherings to reduce the spread of the disease. Some people have argued that the Ghana Health Service (GHS) should test everyone to identify those who have the COVID-19. This, they explain, will let everyone know those who have the disease to prevent those who have the disease to prevent fear and panic in the country. They say there is fear and panic when the identities of those who have the disease as well as where they live and work are not known. They say fear to go to town, board a commercial vehicle, go to work or school because they do not know who has the disease and who does not. If the COVID-19 status of everyone is known, they argue, the government can restrict movement of the infected persons, and give them medical treatment. This, they conclude, will prevent the spread of the disease in the country and avoid allocating large funds in the future to deal with the COVID-19. In contrast, others argue that testing everybody is costly because there is a possibility that some people do not the COVID-19. Also, even among those who contract the disease, some develop immunity to self- heal from the disease. They argue that those who have recovered from the COVID-19 did so without treatment. They recovered by themselves. If one hundred people are tested, they explain, it is possible to get forty people to have the COVID-19. But it is likely that almost all the forty people, given the ability of their immune system, can recover from the disease without medical treatment; thus, self-healing. They say if everyone is tested and a larger number of people test positive, it will cause fear and panic in the country. Therefore, the Ghana Health Service (GHS) should not test everyone but test only those who show symptoms of the disease.
